Blog 2: The Nightmare Returns

That's a reference to The Blob 2, for you cinephobes out there.

Anyway, yeah, double wounds. Several weeks ago I drank too much wine, then came home and slammed into a door frame, then enjoyed bleeding, bandaids, and scarring from a wound above my left eyebrow. Later Sean requested to have a bandaid over his left eye too, saying he had "a paper cut". After a few days, Sean managed to fall headfirst on a bolt at daycare - hole in the forehead, ambulance with full strap-down, emergency room, 3 layers of stitches (3, count em, 3 layers). Now we both have scars above the left eye, his being quite a bit bigger, but solid bonding material nonetheless.

On the plus side Dee saw one of those street performer statues clad in gold puking in the ER with a documentary crew all up in the scene.

Kyle, it is unfortunate that your child has an extra hole in his head, but you know that eyebrow scars are quite the rage, he'll get along just fine with the ladies.

That is quite possibly the best story ever. I often wonder how parents balance the responsibilities of keeping a small child from dying with the weekly/bi-monthly/daily need to get buzzed/tipsy/drunk/belligerant-and-bloody. The answer: You just try the best you can; then you bond with your child over eyebrow scars.
